Security+ Exam Prep Question of the Week

Author: James Michael Stewart 30 November 2012 517 views No Comments

In order to provide the most complete protection against malware, which of the following is the best implementation choice?

  1. Install anti-virus on the host computer and on each virtual system
  2. Install anti-virus only on the host computer
  3. Install anti-virus only on the virtual systems
  4. Install anti-virus on only one virtual system

The correct answer is 1.

When working with virtualized operating systems, it is important to remember that a virtual OS needs security management just as much as a hardware hosted OS. Most of the same security concerns and hardening operations need to be performed on virtual OSes as they are on host OSes. This includes the installation of updates, a host firewall, and local anti-virus scanning software.
