Author: Guest Authors 24 August 2011 2,368 views No Comments

In this weekly series, Jill Liles posts questions and answers to help readers prepare for the CCNA exam.

What identifies a logical circuit and is locally significant between the router and the local Frame Relay switch?

  1. a DLCI
  2. an LMI signal
  3. an FECN packet
  4. a BECN packet

The correct answer is A.

The data link connection identifier (DLCI) is a locally significant number between the router and the local Frame Relay switch that identifies a logical virtual connection. Devices at opposite ends of a virtual circuit may use different DLCIs to refer to the virtual circuit.
