CCNA Question of the Week

Which type of IPv6 address is a global unicast address that is assigned to more than one interface?

  1. Anycast
  2. Unicast
  3. Multicast
  4. Broadcast

The correct answer is 1.

An IPv6 anycast address is a new address type in IPv6. An anycast address is assigned to multiple devices providing the same service and is used for one-to-nearest communication. The router will send the traffic to the nearest (as defined by the routing protocol) device with the anycast address. Anycast addresses are allocated from the global unicast address space.
