CCNA Question of the Week

In this weekly series, Jill Liles posts questions and answers to help readers prepare for the CCNA exam.

Which username must be configured on routers when using PPP authentication?

  1. One that matches the hostname of the local router
  2. One that matches the hostname of the remote router
  3. One that matches neither hostname
  4. There is no restriction on username

The correct answer is B.

When using PPP authentication, you must configure a username that matches the hostname of the remote router. You must do this on both routers (so that they each have their own hostname and a username that matches the other router’s hostname).
